About.Matthews & Sons Contractors was founded in 1974 by Clifford and Roberta Matthews when they purchased their first backhoe. This business has now grown to over 25 pieces of heavy equipment and 13 Mack trucks. Clifford and Roberta, along with their three sons Cliff, Jr., Sammie and Russell, operated the business as a family until Clifford's passing in 2007. Roberta and her sons continue to operate Matthews & Sons, which has expanded from general excavation to extensive railroad work, structure demolition, brush cutting, and the construction of lakes and ponds. The Matthews' family takes pride in its success, delivering quality and affordable work as a family owned and operated business.
